Parking Appeal Evidence: What to Collect and How to Present It

A good appeal is easier to understand when the evidence is organised, dated and directly connected to the point you are making.

Photographs

Take both close and wide photographs. A close photograph may show unreadable wording, damage or a missing sign; a wide photograph shows where that item sits relative to the bay, vehicle, entrance or restriction.

Payment and permit evidence

Keep the original ticket where possible. Download app receipts and transaction history. If the dispute involves an input error, preserve exactly what registration or location code was entered.

Chronology

A short timeline can be more persuasive than several pages of narrative. Record arrival, payment, any delay or incident, departure, issue date, challenge date, rejection date and later correspondence.

Independent records

Useful evidence can include breakdown recovery reports, garage records, medical documents, receipts from the premises, employer confirmation or witness statements. Only provide material that is relevant and redact unnecessary sensitive information.

Presenting the bundle

  1. Write a short summary of the case.
  2. State the strongest ground or issue first.
  3. Number each evidence item.
  4. Refer to the evidence number in the text.
  5. Use dates and times consistently.
  6. Remove repetition and weak points that distract from the main case.
